Family-owned since 1912. One store at 200 Tilton Road, Northfield, NJ 08225. Questions about this piece: 609-241-0807.
Storage drawers in the footboard turn the Willow Upholstered Storage Bed into the hardest-working piece in a light Birchaven bedroom. The headboard is upholstered in Bilma Natural and framed in Universal's Willow finish; the drawers sit below the mattress platform. Queen is 66 inches wide, king is 82, both 86 inches long with a 58-inch headboard, and both are designed for a mattress only — no box spring.
If you are choosing between this and the plain Willow Upholstered Bed, the question is whether you need the drawers more than you need a clean footboard; in a smaller room the drawers usually win. The Willow dressers and nightstands complete the set, all of it designed in High Point, North Carolina.
