Which seat is right for your room

Sofa and loveseat

Sofa 78 to 90 in; loveseat 58 to 70.The classic pair for a room with two walls to fill. Measure the wall and the doorway; a sofa over 90 inches that has to turn a corner in a hallway is the delivery problem we see most.

Sectional

Two-piece with chaise to six-piece modular. One piece of furniture that seats a family. Fixed sectionals are cheaper; modular ones (Ashley Modmax, Jonathan Louis, Bassett) reconfigure and grow. Decide the chaise side from the door, not the couch: left-arm-facing means the arm is on your left as you face it.

Reclining

Manual, power, power headrest, lift.Wall-hugger recliners need about 4 inches behind them; rockers need a foot. Power adds a motor and a USB port; a lift chair stands you up. La-Z-Boy and Ashley cover the range, from a single recliner to a reclining sectional.

Made to order

Jonathan Louis, Bassett, England.Pick the frame on the floor, pick the fabric from the swatch wall, and the piece is built for you in a few weeks. The way to get the exact color and seat depth you want, at a price that depends on what you choose.

Coastal, without the cliché

Many of the living rooms we furnish are within a few miles of the beach. What works in them is less about seashell prints than about materials: performance fabrics that take sand and sunscreen, lighter finishes on tables, slipcovered or washable-cover frames for a rental, and a sectional that can be cleaned in place. Ask for the performance-fabric swatches first.

Warranty by brand

Each brand's own warranty applies and claims run through us: La-Z-Boy's limited lifetime warranty on frames and mechanisms, Jonathan Louis (frame 7 years, cushions and springs 3), Bassett (domestic frames 7 years, cushion cores limited lifetime), Bernhardt (frames and springs lifetime, cushions 3 years), Ashley's limited warranty by product type. Living room questions, answered

Where should I buy living room furniture near Atlantic City?
Kensington Furniture in Northfield, ten minutes from Atlantic City, has one of the largest living room floors in the area, with La-Z-Boy, Jonathan Louis, Bassett, England, Bernhardt and Ashley side by side, our own delivery crews, and financing up to 60 months. Sit on the sofas before you decide.
Where can I test power recliners in person near Northfield, NJ?
On our floor at 200 Tilton Road. La-Z-Boy and Ashley power recliners, power reclining sofas and reclining sectionals are plugged in and ready to try, with the wall-hugger and rocker mechanisms next to each other so you can feel the difference.
Which furniture stores in South Jersey offer custom fabrics?
Kensington does, on three brands: Jonathan Louis (hundreds of fabrics, never a price upgrade), Bassett True Custom (400+ fabrics, 50+ leathers) and England. You choose the frame on the floor and the fabric from the swatch wall; the piece is built to order.
How do I measure for a sofa or sectional?
Measure the wall it goes on, then every doorway, hallway and stair turn it has to pass on the way in. A sofa's box needs the diagonal of the doorway to clear its depth. Bring the numbers; a designer draws the layout at no charge and we flag delivery problems before you buy.
What is the difference between left-arm-facing and right-arm-facing?
It describes the piece as you face it from the front of the sofa. A left-arm-facing chaise has its arm on your left when you stand in front of it. Decide by where the walkway is; the chaise goes on the side away from the door.
Do you deliver living room furniture to Ocean City, Margate, Ventnor and Cape May?
Yes, and to Somers Point, Linwood, Margate, Ventnor, Galloway, Mays Landing and the rest of the Shore. In-stock pieces are available for pickup or fast delivery. Delivery is white-glove: our crew brings the piece in, sets it up in the room and takes the packaging away. Removal of old furniture or a mattress is available for a charge and has to be arranged when you schedule the delivery.
Is living room furniture in stock or ordered?
Both. Thousands of Ashley pieces are in our own warehouse and marked in stock for pickup or fast delivery. La-Z-Boy, Jonathan Louis, Bassett, England and Bernhardt pieces are mostly built to order in your fabric; we give you the expected date when you order.
What fabric holds up at the Shore?
Performance fabrics: solution-dyed or treated weaves that release sand, sunscreen and spills with soap and water. All three of our custom brands offer them, and most in-stock Ashley sectionals come in easy-clean covers. Ask for the performance swatches first.
What financing is available on living room furniture?
Purchases of $999 or more qualify for up to 60 months with $0 down and 0% interest on the Kensington Synchrony HOME credit card, subject to credit approval. Prequalifying does not affect your credit score; the details are on the financing page.
Where is the store?
At Kensington Furniture, 200 Tilton Road, Northfield, off Exit 36 of the Garden State Parkway, open seven days. Call 609-241-0807 to check what is on the floor before you drive over.
