Your height picks the frame

La-Z-Boy sizes each model to a body scale, and the seat depth and back height change with it. From the models we carry:

  • Small, 5'4" to 5'9": Finley, Ava, Scarlett high-leg, Addison, Hawthorn

A tall frame in a petite chair leaves your head above the back. Sit in the wrong one on our floor once and you will not need convincing.

How much room it takes

Fully reclined, the chairs we sell run from 58 inches long (the Scarlett high-leg) to 75 inches (the Randell). Measure from the wall to the front of where the footrest will land. A standard rocker recliner needs roughly 18 to 30 inches of clearance behind it; a wall recliner needs 3 to 5 inches because it slides forward as it reclines. The trade with a wall recliner is that it does not rock.

Manual or power

Manual recliners cost less and have nothing to plug in and nothing electrical to fail. Power recliners cost more, add a headrest or lumbar motor on most models, and need an outlet within cord reach. They also weigh more, 80 pounds and up. If the chair is going upstairs in a shore house, tell us and we will plan the delivery around it.

Fabric or leather

Leather wipes clean and costs more on the same frame, usually a few hundred dollars. Fabric gives you far more colors and patterns, and La-Z-Boy's performance fabrics handle kids and dogs well. Either way, La-Z-Boy covers fabric and leather defects for one year and the frame, springs and mechanism for life. Bring a cushion from your sofa if you are matching a room.

What La-Z-Boy warrants

La-Z-Boy's published limited warranty, for the original purchaser buying from an authorized dealer for home use: lifetime on parts for the reclining mechanism, springs, wood frame and base; 3 years on electrical parts and motors; 1 year on fabric, leather and standard cushion foam; and 1 year of labor on most of it. Lift chairs like the Jean carry 3 years on the reclining mechanism and 1 year on the lift and its electronics.

How long does a custom-covered La-Z-Boy take?
Six to ten weeks from the day you order, which is La-Z-Boy's own build window and the honest cost of a made-to-order cover. Floor models can be bought as they sit and delivered within days. If a date matters, say so when you order and we will tell you which is realistic.
Is La-Z-Boy really made in the USA?

Rocker, wall, power, lift, high-leg: which one do I want?
Rocker recliners rock upright and recline by lever; most people want one of these. Wall recliners give up the rock to sit 3 to 5 inches from a wall. Power adds a button, a cord and usually a headrest motor. A lift chair, like the Jean, tilts you to standing. High-leg models, like the Scarlett, look like an armchair and recline anyway.
How much room does a recliner need behind it?
Between 18 and 30 inches for a standard rocker recliner, and 3 to 5 inches for a La-Z-Boy wall recliner. Fully reclined, our models run 58 to 75 inches long, so measure from the wall to where the footrest will land, not just the chair's footprint. We have the reclined length for every model we sell; ask.
Do you have La-Z-Boy zero-gravity recliners?
The Acadia line is La-Z-Boy's zero-gravity power seating, and we carry the Acadia chair, loveseat and sofa, all with power headrest and lumbar. Zero gravity tilts the whole body so your legs sit above your heart. It is not on the floor at the moment, so call before you drive.
Do you carry La-Z-Boy lift chairs?
One model, the Jean power lift recliner, and it is on the floor in Northfield to try. Other La-Z-Boy lift models can be ordered on request. Note that lift chairs carry a shorter La-Z-Boy warranty than standard recliners: 3 years on the recline mechanism, 1 year on the lift motor.
