Family-owned since 1912. One store at 200 Tilton Road, Northfield, NJ 08225. Questions about this piece: 609-241-0807.
Press a door and it opens: magnetic touch latches on the Paloma Chest mean no handles on the front, just two softly textured Paloma door fronts set in a frame in Universal's Velora Case finish. Inside are two adjustable shelves with wire management. The chest is 45 inches wide, 20 deep and 35 tall.
Universal calls it a hall chest and lists it for the living room, and the wire management says what it is for: a cabinet for the router, the game console or the record player with the cables out the back. At 35 inches it is a tall nightstand in a bedroom, a small server in a dining room, or the piece inside the front door. It belongs to the Velora collection, whose white oak pieces — dresser, nightstands, cocktail and end tables — share the case finish.
