Family-owned since 1912. One store at 200 Tilton Road, Northfield, NJ 08225. Questions about this piece: 609-241-0807.
Six people fit around the 54-inch Escape Dining Table at about 24 inches of edge each, with the round glass top on an open base finished in Universal's Sandbar tone, 30 inches tall. It is the larger of the two Escape tops; the 44-inch version sits on the same base.
A 54-inch round is the size for a dining room rather than a kitchen — six Siesta Key chairs with their woven abaca backs, or Hamptons chairs for a more dressed room, and the Escape Entertainment Console or a Long Key piece on the wall. Glass keeps the pale base in view, which is what makes an Avalon dining room feel open even with six chairs in it. The Escape group is part of Universal's Coastal Living Home Collection, a licensed line designed with Coastal Living magazine.
