Family-owned since 1912. One store at 200 Tilton Road, Northfield, NJ 08225. Questions about this piece: 609-241-0807.
Washed Belgian linen on the seat and a straight, angular base in Universal's Flint finish give the Carter Side Chair its two-tone look. The chair is 20 inches wide, 25 deep and 34 tall, from the Modern Origins group of Universal's Modern collection, and it arrives with some assembly required.
Twenty inches is a narrow chair, which is the point: eight of them line an 86-inch table with room to pull out, and they tuck fully under a 30-inch table when the meal is over. The linen is the stocked cover; the same chair in the Quartz finish wears a Sky Silver Lining performance fabric instead.
