Family-owned since 1912. One store at 200 Tilton Road, Northfield, NJ 08225. Questions about this piece: 609-241-0807.
Two clear acrylic pedestals hold up the Cabo Writing Desk, so a 64-inch top in Universal's White Sand finish appears to float over the floor. One drawer with a removable pencil tray sits under the top; the hardware is silver. The desk is 28 inches deep and 30 inches tall — standard writing height.
It is the desk for a room that cannot take a heavy one: a bedroom corner, a sunroom, the wall of a Margate living room that doubles as the office. Sixty-four inches is wide enough for a monitor and a notebook side by side, and the acrylic keeps a small room from looking crowded. Cabo belongs to the Weekender collection in Universal's Coastal Living Home Collection, designed in High Point, North Carolina, and its White Sand finish matches the Hermosa and St Kitts tables.
