Most people who walk in asking for "a Tempur-Pedic" end up on one of these two. The ProAdapt Medium 2.0 is the middle of the three all-foam ProAdapts — softer than the Firm, with more support under you than the Soft — and medium is where the majority of sleepers land when they stop guessing and actually lie down on all three.
All-foam, not hybrid. This is the distinction worth getting right, because we sell a mattress with an almost identical name. The ProAdapt Medium Hybrid puts the same TEMPUR-Material over a coil core, so it answers back a little when you move and sleeps slightly cooler for it. This one is TEMPUR all the way down. No springs. You sink in rather than float on, the material holds you exactly where you settle, and motion from the other side of the bed goes nowhere at all. Neither is better. They are different sensations, and thirty seconds on each usually decides it.
What medium actually means here. Firm TEMPUR holds you higher in the mattress; soft lets you settle deeper before it answers. Medium does neither emphatically — it conforms closely at the shoulder and hip without letting the midsection drop, which is why it works for combination sleepers who change position through the night and for couples who cannot agree. If you sleep strictly on your side, look at the ProAdapt Soft. Strictly on your front or back, look at the ProAdapt Firm.
The ProAdapt tier sits above the entry Adapt and below LuxeAdapt: a deeper comfort layer than the Adapt, without the 5-zone support layer that defines the Luxe range.
Note on availability. We do not keep this one on the floor — the Medium Hybrid is the one you will find in the showroom. Order it and it comes in as a special order. If you want to feel the exact material first, come and lie on the ProAdapt Firm and the ProAdapt Soft; medium sits between the two, and the Medium Hybrid will show you the ProAdapt comfort layer with springs underneath. Anyone on the sleep floor in Northfield can walk you through the difference.
