A pillow protector is the cheapest insurance on the bed, and a good one goes unnoticed under the pillowcase. Avocado's is GOTS-certified organic cotton with an ultra-thin waterproof barrier derived from corn starch, about five percent of the materials, and a hidden side zipper. It keeps spills, sweat and dust mites out of the pillow and washes in cold water on the gentle cycle, then line dries.
It comes in Standard, Queen and King to match the Avocado pillows on this site, and it is the simplest way to keep a latex or kapok pillow fresh for years, since those pillows are spot-clean only. The organic cotton is grown without pesticides and the protector uses no chemical adhesives or artificial dyes.

No. The waterproof layer is a thin plant-based barrier bonded between organic cotton, so it feels like a cotton pillowcase. It will look a little wrinkled after washing and smooth out on the pillow.
Unzip it, machine wash cold on the gentle cycle with a mild detergent, and hang to dry. Do not put it in the dryer.
Standard fits a standard pillow, Queen a queen, King a king. Avocado's Green, Side Sleeper and Molded Latex pillows come in the same three sizes; the Pure Talalay Standard/Queen takes the Queen protector.
Yes. The protector zips over the pillow and your pillowcase goes over the protector.
The cotton is GOTS certified and the protector as a whole is made to GOTS standards, with the waterproof layer kept within the small allowance the standard permits.

Follow the care label on the item: Avocado's organic cotton sheets, pillowcases and protectors machine wash in cold or warm water with a mild detergent and no bleach, and most prefer a low tumble or line dry. Pillows and toppers are spot-clean only.
