A latex hybrid wants a base that does not bounce, and the Avocado Foundation is that: a solid wood frame with slats spaced 2 inches apart, wrapped in a durable woven cover, that holds the mattress flat and lets air move under it. Choose the Standard profile at 7.25 inches for a traditional bed height or the Low profile at 3.5 inches for a taller mattress or a modern low look.

No. A platform with closely spaced slats already does the foundation's job. You need a foundation when your bed frame has only side rails, or when you use metal rails with a headboard.
A box spring has springs that give and eventually sag; this foundation is rigid solid wood with slats 2 inches apart, which is what latex and pocketed-coil mattresses want underneath them.
