Family-owned since 1912. One store at 200 Tilton Road, Northfield, NJ 08225. Questions about this piece: 609-241-0807.
Solid wood, not veneer over particleboard, is what makes a platform bed outlast the mattress on it, and the Avocado City Bed is built from continuous solid boards with rounded edges and no exposed hardware. Choose Walnut or Blonde, a clear light wood, and order it as a frame alone or with the 34-inch solid wood headboard. The finish is an ECOS clear varnish over Titebond wood glue.
The frame stands 11 inches tall with about 5 inches of clearance, and its slats, spaced 2 inches apart, roll out as one piece, so there is no foundation to buy and no tools to find: the rails lock together. It is rated for 1,000 pounds in every size and sits low enough that a tall mattress still looks right.
GREENGUARD Gold certified, with a 10-year warranty from Avocado. Twin through California King. See this piece or comparable Avocado pieces at our Northfield showroom; the matching City Nightstand is on this site.
Not sure it fits through the door or up the stairs? Will it fit? Our delivery guide
No. The City Bed has a rolled slat deck with slats 2 inches apart, which is exactly the support a latex hybrid or any modern mattress wants. The mattress goes straight on the slats.
Frame only is the platform with slats; With Headboard adds the 34-inch solid wood headboard, which stands about 39 inches from the floor and bolts to the frame. Both come in Blonde and Walnut.
The frame is 11 inches tall with roughly 5 inches of clearance, enough for low storage bins. A Queen measures 82 by 62 inches overall; Twin 77 by 40, Full 77 by 56, King 82 by 78, California King 86 by 74.
Avocado rates every size for 1,000 pounds.
No. The rails lock together, the slats roll out as one piece and snap into the ends, and the headboard bolts on; two people finish in well under half an hour with no tools.

Dust with a soft dry cloth and wipe spills promptly. The finish is a clear varnish, so there is no stain to wear through; a light scuff can be sanded and refinished by a woodworker, which is one of the advantages of solid wood over veneer.
No. The rails lock together, the slats roll out as one piece, and the optional headboard bolts to the frame — most people are done in well under half an hour. The City Nightstand ships assembled.
