What should I consider when choosing a new mattress?
Start with your sleep position, whether you sleep hot, whether you share the bed, and any pressure-point or back issues. Then set a budget and narrow by comfort level. How do I know if I need a Firm, Medium, Plush or Ultra Plush mattress?
Side sleepers usually need more give at the shoulder and hip, which points toward Plush or Ultra Plush. Back and stomach sleepers usually need more support, which points toward Firm or Medium. What is the difference between memory foam, innerspring and hybrid mattresses?
Memory foam contours closely and absorbs motion, innerspring uses coils for a more traditional, responsive feel with stronger edge support, and a hybrid combines a coil base with foam or latex comfort layers for a balance of both. Hybrids are our most popular category, and we keep a wide in-stock selection in Northfield.
